Tips from a Chiropractor
1. Stop staring at your phone: Bending or tilting your head down to look at your phone can put up to 60 pounds of pressure on your spine. Keep your phone at eye level as much as you can. 2. Stretch every morning: Even just 5 minutes of stretching during your morning routine can warm up your body, alleviate stiffness and pain, improve your posture, loosen up tight muscles and increase blood flow throughout your body. 3. Do not crack your neck: Incorrectly cracking your neck can lead to pinched nerves, punctured blood vessels, blood clotting, strained neck muscles and joints 4. Bend at the knees not at the waist: Always better to be safe than sorry and practice good lifting and bending techniques 5. Don't sleep on your stomach: Sleeping on your stomach puts added stress and pressure on your spine and can lead to herniated discs in your neck as a result of your head being turned to the left or the right.
