Disc problems have a genetic component and can be worsened by the natural “wear and tear” of age and damage from various other sources (i.e. trauma). The role of the disc is greatly influenced by the spine ‘s orientation. A subluxation or structural imbalance can cause a disc to bulge, protrude, or herniate, which can then lead to nerve contact and cause pain.
When someone comes in with back pain, this popular back issue is often considered. To correct this issue, our goal is to realign the vertebrae and restore the spine to its natural range of motion. This practice is effective and can help to manage/eliminate this disorder, thus reducing the strain on the disc and spinal joints. We also incorporate physical therapy for the abdominal and back muscles as well as strengthening exercises.
